Tony Uribe
Born in Ajo,Arizona, Tony has been playing for 33 years and loves both the classic and contemporary Blues masters.He ingeniously interprets the Blues rich history with voice and guitar that speak a language everyone can understand.
Involved in educating about Blues music and culture, Tony has participated in the Tucson Blues Society since it’s first meeting in 1983.
Tony’s band, Tony and the Torpedoes, are everything you’d expect from a superior band. You could say they “own” the Tucson Blues scene. They consistently draw the largest crowd during the annual Tucson Blues Fest. Tony leads the Torpedoes with vocals, electric guitar, acoustic guitar and dobro. Other band members include ABHOF nominee, guitarist, Danny Krieger, ABHOF member, Jerome Kimsey on drums and bassist, Larry Diehl. ABHOF member Richard Gomez was the Torpedoes keyboardist until his death in August 1998.
Tony has performed with the Bad News Blues Band, George Howard and the Roadhouse Hounds, Homesick James, Raful Neal and Jackie Neal. He has opened shows for Albert Collins, Koko Taylor, Son Seals, Otis Rush, Mose Allison and others.
