George Howard

George Howard has been involved in playing the blues for over 45 years. His participation includes teaching, presenting workshops, photographing events of other Blues Musicians and being personally involved with those from the legendary line up of Blues Greats; John Lee Hooker, Syl Johnson, Louisiana Red, Bo Diddley, Charlie Musselwhite, Jimmy Thackery and Johnny Lang.

George has produced and co-produced records on independent labels. George started locally with a blues band in the 1970’s called Breeze Band and went on to join the Subterranean Blues Band. Later in the 1980’s he joined up with friends, Pat MacAndrews and Brooks Keenan to form the Statesboro Blues Band.

George moved on to his own solo career with the Roadhouse Hounds in the 1990’s. As the band’s lead vocalist, George brings forth the band’s soul, spirit and humor. As a drummer, his chops propel the wide variety of infectious rhythms behind the expert musicians who are the Roadhouse Hounds.

George has also been recently playing and recording with friends around the country and had recently returned from touring in Europe and the U.S.A. Some of George’s influences are fellow friends, past and present. For example, Albert Collins, Syl Johnson, Lonnie Brooks and Curtis Salgado are all friends and influences that have helped guide him through the years.

George’s last album, “Great American Blues You Can Use”, received better than just a good response. He has almost completed a new album, including several original tunes, which will be released in the near future.
