jerome kimsey
Jerome Kimsey was born on October 29, 1942 in Palo Alto, California.
Jerome paid for his first drum set with a paper route. At his first gig, his dad came in and made him go home for being underage (16) in the San Francisco club.
Jerome has played T-Bone Walker, Del Shannon, the Resistors, and Roy Rogers; toured with Gary Lewis & the Playboys, Debbie Davies; and recorded on the Pointer Sisters’ first album, “Wang Dang Doodle”, and on many of Sam Taylor’s hits. For most of the 90’s, he was with Sam Taylor’s band, including European tours and their 1995 Arizona Blues Showdown win and subsequent International Blues Competition runner-up award in Memphis. He was always in demand for studio recording, and was playing with Tony & the Torpedoes at the time of his induction.
Jerome passed away on January 21, 2017 in Sunnyvale, California.
